It had been a while since Napharia had seen any other wolves. She had been all over the place, and met a few here and there, but they were no fun to be around. Naph looked around the grassy lumps of earth and sighed. She wanted someone to jump on to come by, right now, and be happy to see her. Yes, someone to pounce, and laugh with and tell silly jokes with and to hunt. Naphairia liked to hunt, most wolves called it tag when you hunted one another, or hide-and-seek.
Oh! Why were there never wolves around when you needed them? Naph seemed to get mad all of the sudden and began to run. She ran, howling in the wind, hoping that she was lure someone into her sight. Naphairia did not enjoy being alone.
She ran down one hill and began to bound up another when she stopped and sighed. She was tired now, and the sun was in just the right place to hit her back and warm her fur all the way to the skin. But there were still no other wolves around her that she could play with, or lay in the sun with. This is no fair! Naph thought to herself as she looked around her.
Naph flopped down in the tall grass and whined in the wind. She rolled over on her tummy and wiggled around, matting the grass down so that she might take a light nap in the sun. Maybe by the time she woke up, someone might be passing through, or she might get up the urge to go exploring again.
Naph lay there, with her paws over her nose, and her ears folded back. She got comfortable in the grass and began to relax under the warmth of the sun when she thought she heard something. She know what it was, or if it was real, but it was enough to make her alert.
